About Me

I'm the Executive Director of the Sustainable Gardening Institute and founder of SGI's Sustainable Gardening Library, a centralized, easy-to-use, authoritative resource on how to garden and farm more sustainably.

As a field editor for Better Homes and Gardens and Country Gardens magazines, a Garden Lifestyle Coach, and a popular regional speaker who writes from Northwestern New Jersey, I enjoy meeting other gardeners who care about the environment. I chair the Garden Writers Association Sustainability Committee and am a recipient of the prestigious Jefferson Presidential Award for nearly a decade of service in environmental advocacy. I’m honored to have also received the New Jersey SBDC’s Small Business Success Award and the NJAWBO Publications Award.

In addition, I trained as a Psychology of Meaning Coach with Dr. Eric Maisel, have an AB in Geology from Rutgers University, and a Black Belt in Isshinryu Karate.

My interests include astronomy and space science, environmental science, mystery and crime novels, cooking, music, and the arts and fine crafts. My husband and I raised five puppies as volunteers for The Seeing Eye.
